What happens to the funds raised by North Stockton Rotary
North Stockton Rotary uses a large portion of funds raised at our annual events to fund community programs like our RAH (Reading At Home) Program, developed by North Stockton Rotarian Dr. Dennis Del Paine to improve literacy in elementary schools for children in Kindergarten thru 2nd grade. Our goal is to increase the number of 3rd Graders reading at grade level. The program includes books and CD’s given to classrooms so the students can take the book and CD home to read with their families. Also North Stockton Rotarians and other supporters read weekly to select classes. The program has been in place for over 10 years and has received documented improvement in the schools that are in the program.
Teaming up with all Area 2 Stockton Rotary Clubs, North Stockton Rotary also uses funds to provide dictionaries thousands of 3rd grade students in Stockton, California. Studies have shown that children have a better success in all areas of life when they are able to read at grade level by 3rd grade. North Stockton Rotary also uses funds raised to support numerous nonprofits in our community including:
- March of Dimes
- Hope Haven West (Wheel Chair Distribution)
- Free Little Libraries
- Science Camp for SUSD Students
- Stockton Shelter for the Homeless
- CAPC – Child Abuse Prevention Council
- Children’s Home of Stockton
- Women’s Center – Youth & Family Services
- St. Mary’s Interfaith Dining Room
- PUENTES – Boggs Track Community Farm
- Transitional Learning Center
